There’s a very poignant and sad occasion coming up for Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) in Emmerdale – it’s the day that his beloved wife Liv (Isobel Steele) would have turned 21.

Liv was tragically killed in the epic storm that raged across the village last October, unleashing death, destruction and a rampage of killer cows.

As Vinny and Liv made their way to the Woolpack to look after Eve (Bella James) while Paddy (Dominic Brunt) went to be with injured Chas (Lucy Pargeter) in hospital, a caravan was blown across the road by the fierce wind. While Vinny was able to get free, Liv was crushed between the caravan and a building.

When paramedics arrived there was nothing they could do to save her, as the lower half of her body had been completely crushed. Vinny sat with her as she died, as the couple shared some final tender words with each other.

Liv and Vinny had only been married for a few months, eloping to get married in secret in February last year. They looked forward to a long future together, but they found themselves soon having to deal with Liv’s evil mother Sandra (Joanne Mitchell) and her scheme to split them up and get her hands on Liv’s money.

Having seen off Sandra, the future was looking good – then disaster struck.

As Liv’s birthday comes around, Vinny emotionally toasts the occasion. Will 2023 bring him some happiness after all the heartache?
