Once again, Virgin River will be taking inspiration from the characters from author Robyn Carr’s novel series.

However, the show has made some big diversions from the source material with the series proving to be a more soapy and interconnected affair between all the characters.

Season five will pick up from the surprising cliffhanger, which saw Charmaine Roberts (played by Lauren Hammersley) admit to Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) he wasn’t the father of her twins.

This scene left both Jack and his fiancée Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckinridge) shocked as they tended to Charmaine’s medical emergency.

Moreover, Denny Cutler (Kai Bradbury) admitted to Lizzie (Sarah Dugdale) he had the terminal neurological illness Huntington’s Disease with the suggestion he would die.

Denny remained secretive throughout season four after arriving at the start of the run but things finally came to a head.

Season five will see how Charmaine’s emergency plays out as well as what Jack will make of the revelation he isn’t the father of the twins.

On top of this, Preacher Middleton (Colin Lawrence) and Paige Lassiter (Lexa Doig) finally confronted Vince Logan (Steve Bacic).

Then there was Dan Brady’s (Ben Hollingsworth) dealings with Melissa Montgomery (Barbara Pollard) and her drug empire which she was planning to expand.

Fans will have to tune in to see how it all pans out with the festive episodes also expected to drop some more bombshells given Virgin River’s habit of serving up some tense cliffhangers at the end of each episode.
