We found our fairytale home on Escape to the Country – here’s how we transformed it | The Sun

A LOVED-UP couple on Escape to the Country have gushed about the "fairytale" home they bought on the BBC programme and revealed how they transformed it.

The BBC One daytime show helps potential buyers find their perfect home in the countryside.

Mandy and David appeared on the popular BBC daytime show in autumn 2020, hoping to find their first home together in the dreamy Cotswolds, with presenter Nicki Chapman.

From the minute Mandy and David set their eyes on the 300-year-old stone cottage which was once two homes converted into one property around 20 years ago, they were amazed.

The property boasted a heated garden room and a family bathroom which serves two double bedrooms.

After viewing the property, David told Nicki: "I don't think we need to see any more houses, Nicki. Shall we all just go to the pub?"

The couple were then shocked to discover the price of the property was just £550,000, tens of thousands of pounds lower than they initially estimated.

Mandy and David decided to buy the Halmore property, paying £555,000 for it in the end.

Eighteen months on from their dream home purchase, Nicki called into Gloucestershire to visit the pair this summer, to see what they changes they had made to the place.

It was clear that the couple had completely transformed the house adding their own stylish twist to it.

The fireplace was also converted into a gin cupboard and the place leads to Mandy's studio from her kitchen space.

Mandy told Nicki: "It’s an absolutely lovely home in an absolutely lovely place. You picked so well for us."
