ITS one-off reboot was a resounding success last year, and now The Big Breakfast is back to liven up our summer Saturday mornings.

Strictly star AJ Odudu and comedian Mo Gilligan are hosting four episodes of the Channel 4 show, which kicks off this weekend.

We revealed yesterday they'll be joined by show legend Denise Van Outen, who will officially hand over the reins.

The anarchic entertainment show originally ran for two hours every weekday morning between 1992 to 2002.

Here we take a look back at what happened to the original TBB presenters – from selling houses in the US, to surviving terrifying brushes with death.

Chris Evans and Gaby Roslin were the original TBB hosts, with both going on to enjoy lucrative careers.

After leaving the morning programme in 1994, Chris remained the golden boy of Channel 4 and landed gigs such as TFI Friday, and Don't Forget Your Toothbrush.

He then turned his attention to the airwaves, hosting Radio 1's Breakfast Show, before joining Virgin Radio in 1997. He married Billie Piper in 2001, but they split in 2004.

In 2015 Chris, 56, was announced as the new host of Top Gear, which he fronted until 2017.

In 2019, almost 20 years after he left Virgin Radio, Chris returned to host the station's Breakfast Show.

Meanwhile Gaby, 58, remained on TBB until 1996, co-hosting with Mark Little after Chris' departure.

She has had a glittering TV career ever since, teaming up with Terry Wogan for Children in Need several times over the years, with the pair even fronting The Terry and Gaby show in 2003.

Gaby now has a popular self-titled podcast, which has seen her interview huge names including Dame Judi Dench.

She has two daughters – Libbi-Jack from her first marriage to musician Colin Peel, and Amelie whom she shares with husband David Osmon.

Zoe Ball

Zoe Ball took over from Gaby when she left TBB, but only presented the programme alongside Mark Little for a year before jumping ship to the BBC for Live & Kicking with Jamie Theakston.

She and Jamie then landed a short-lived night-time music show called The Priory, with Zoe enjoying radio success too.

In 2005, the bubbly presenter came third in Strictly Come Dancing, and more recently she joined Radio 2's Breakfast Show in January 2019. She also presents Strictly: It Takes Two.

She and her son Woody – who recently came out as bisexual – can also be seen on Celebrity Gogglebox together.

Zoe was married to Norman Cook, better known as DJ Fatboy Slim, for seven years, but they split in 2006.

Tragically, Zoe's subsequent cameraman boyfriend Billy Yates took his own life in May 2017, which she said left her "in shock for two years".

Johnny Vaughan

Johnny Vaughan, along with Denise Van Outen, breathed a new lease of life into TBB as co-hosts between 1997 and 1998, and 2000 and 2001.

After their tenure, Johnny, now 56, moved to the BBC for his own late-night talk show, as well as writing and starring in his sitcom 'Orrible.

In true TBB fashion, Johnny is now a DJ, and can currently be heard on Radio X, having previously hosted the breakfast show at London's Capital FM.

Johnny married costume designer Antonia Davies, who he met while working in a West London video shop, in 1999 after six years together and they have two kids, but split in 2013.

Denise recently admitted she and Johnny had a "rocky relationship over the years" – they famously fell out after he allegedly went behind her back to renegotiate his contract – but they reconnected during lockdown.

Denise Van Outen

Denise, 48, went on to become a star of the stage and small screen, landing West End and Broadway roles as a darling of musical theatre.

She has also appeared in soaps including EastEnders and Neighbours, as well as reality shows Strictly, The Masked Singer and Dancing On Ice, and narrates the The Only Way Is Essex.

Denise is a regular on Celebrity Gogglebox, but recently had a painful split from partner Eddie Boxshall, after discovering he was sexting other women.

She previously dated Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay, but they split months before they were due to wed in 2001.

Denise married musical theatre star Lee Mead – who she met while he was a contestant on BBC talent show Any Dream Will Do, which she was judging – in 2009. They share daughter Besty, but split in 2013.

Donna Air

Donna, 42, was an actress and pop sensation before she was a Big Breakfast host, shooting to fame as Charlie Charlton in Byker Grove and one-half of duet Crush, who toured the US and Asia when she was just a teen.

She joined TBB in 2000, but resigned after just two months.

The Newcastle lass was part of London’s notorious Primrose Hill set, along with Kate Moss, Sadie Frost, Noel and Liam Gallagher.

Donna returned to acting with appearances in The Mummy Returns, Hollyoaks, Hotel Babylon and most recently The Split. She's also competed on reality shows Dancing On Ice, and Splash!.

Donna fell for multi-millionaire animal conservationist Damian Aspinall, almost 20 years her senior and dad to her daughter Freya, when she was 21. They dated for seven years.

They famously hit the headlines when they revealed their plans to put Freya in a gorilla enclosure at Damien's animal park and allow her to be carried off by the female – as he'd done with his previous two daughters.

Donna later rubbed shoulders with royalty after dating Kate Middleton's brother James on-off for five years.

Dani Behr

Dani, now 52, was a stand-in reporter on The Big Breakfast in the early '90s and a lads mag favourite.

She dated Ryan Giggs for a year and fellow footballer Les Ferdinand for four. Dani went on to marry restaurateur Carl Harwin in 2005 and the pair had two sons before splitting up in 2014.

Among her subsequent TV credits are I'm A Celeb in 2008, and Come Dine With Me.

In 2015, Dani made a career change and is now a real estate agent in the US, selling glam Hollywood homes.

She has since revealed she's always been savvy with property thanks to her estate agent dad, and bought her first investment at the age of 16.

Mark Little

Australian actor Mark, now 62, is best known for playing Joe Mangel on Neighbours, but presented on the TBB with Gaby and then Zoe from 1994 to 1996.

Acting credits include the film Blackball and a one-man show in the West End, called Defending the Caveman.

Mark made regular appearances on The Wright Stuff and competed in the 2019 series of Dancing on Ice, but was booted out in week one.

He’s married to Cathryn Farr and they share two sons.

Mark Lamarr

Mark, now 55, was a reporter on TBB, delivering Down on Your Doorstep reports for four years.

He was also a panelist on Shooting Stars and hosted Never Mind the Buzzcocks from its launch in 1996 for 17 series.

Mark has also fronted shows on BBC Radio 1, 2 and 5.

In 2018, Mark was charged with common assault and false imprisonment.

However, the day before his first court appearance the charges were dropped and the CPS apologised, admitting it was “wrong” to charge him and apologising for the “obvious distress” it caused.

Liza Tarbuck

Liza, 57, presented The Big Breakfast with Johnny Vaughan, Sara Cox and Richard Bacon, having previously got her big break in the Granada series Watching.

The daughter of comedian Jimmy Tarbuck went on to land roles in TV series Linda Green, Bonkers and Upstart Crow.

She’s regularly stood in as a presenter in BBC Radio 2, and has presented her own show on there since May 2012.

She released a book entitled I An Distracted by Everything in November 2017.

Amanda Byram

Having started out her career as a model, the now 49-year-old hosted TBB in 2001 before going on to present the UK edition of Entertainment Tonight on Sky One.

She briefly dated Patrick Kielty after meeting him presenting Ireland AM in the early 90s, and later got engaged to Australian rugby player Craig McMullen.

However she called off their wedding in 2011 six weeks before, later admitting it was the “most difficult thing I have ever done”.

Afterwards she plunged into depression, and admitted she often went to events and got drunk because she "didn't want to be home alone and single".

She married TV producer Julian Okines in 2016, and after a lengthy fertility battle they welcomed son Phoenix last year.

Amanda is now heavily into fitness and has penned a self help book.

Sharron Davies

Former Olympic swimmer and Gladiator Sharron, 59, presented TBB in 1996.

Two years earlier she'd married her second husband, athlete Derek Redmond, with whom she had two children, but they divorced in 2000.

She married BA pilot Tony Kingston in 2002, and gave birth to her third child in January 2007, after undergoing eight rounds of IVF and suffering two miscarriages.

She and Tony split in 2009. The following year Sharon competed on Dancing on Ice, and these days is a regular commentator at sporting events.

She was recently embroiled in controversy over remarks she made about trans women not being allowed to participate in female sporting competitions because they have an unfair advantage.

Sharron admitted being outspoken about her opinion on the issue has led to employers "dropping" her, leaving her on the verge of financial ruin.

Rick Adams

Rick, 50, is arguably better known for his stints on the radio, having hosted Radio KOL, the first ever live radio show for kids aged six to 15.

As well as co-presenting TBB in 1996 alongside Sharron, Rick hosted kids’ game show Crazy Cottage, Nickelodeon US’s Slime Time Live and Bravo TV’s Mission: Paintball.

Having moved to the US, he joined The Weather Channel in March 2014 as a freelance reporter.

He also penned the book 36.5 Reasons To Laugh, and is a qualified yoga and meditation teacher.

Richard Bacon

Although Richard, 46, started out as a Blue Peter presenter, he was incredibly popular on TBB.

He has had several high-profile presenting and acting jobs since, including stints on Top of the Pops, This Morning and most recently, Good Morning Britain.

At 42, Richard was diagnosed with ADHD. Later that year he suffered a terrifying brush with death when he was put in a medical coma after falling ill with pneumonia.

Richard – married to Rebecca McFarlane, with whom he shares two kids – opened up about his alcohol addiction in 2019.
