Having a new baby is hard, but having a new baby at just 13 years old must be completely terrifying, as EastEnders teen Lily Slater (Lillia Turner) has just found out.

After giving birth at home in dramatic scenes, Lily had a restless sleep and woke up panicking and crying for her own mum.

While Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) assured worried dad Martin Fowler (James Bye) that it was normal for her to struggle to adjust, he couldn’t help but be concerned by Lily’s reactions to baby Charli’s crying.

It was later, during a visit from Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty), that Lily’s fears really showed, as she began to panic when Charli started to cry.

Ever the encouraging mum, Stacey told Lily that it was her turn to tend to her daughter, as she would want her mum and not her nan.

Lily was petrified, insisting that she didn’t want to hurt her, and the fact that she was tired and overwhelmed made her a terrible mum.

Everyone was quick to assure her that that certainly wasn’t the case, and that sometimes it can just take a while to adjust to a new baby.

With Lily clearly struggling, Whitney stepped up to show her what to do, despite still grieving for her own daughter, Peach.

Whitney learnt that daughter Peach had a condition called Edwards’ Syndrome, which meant that she was unlikely to live long past birth.

Together with partner Zack Hudson (James Farrar), Whitney made the incredibly difficult decision to terminate her pregnancy, before going on to deliver baby Peach.

Stacey was clearly concerned by how holding Charli would affect Whitney, but she assured her that everything was okay, before scooping Lily’s baby up.

Charli soon stopped crying, much to Lily’s relief, so Whitney handed her over, encouraging her to hold her close to her.

Whitney’s support seemed to really help Lily, who settled into holding her baby.

Could Whitney prove to be a big support for Lily going forward?
