How long were John Travolta and Kelly Preston married?

John Travolta and Kelly met at a screen test for their 1989 comedy, The Experts, while Kelly was still married to actor Kevin Gage.

But after splitting from her first husband, she  briefly moved in with George Clooney until they called it quits in 1989, and was even engaged to actor Charlie Sheen until 1990.

However, it was John who was the real love of her life, and after a whirlwind romance, he proposed on New Year's Eve in 1991.

Not wanting a long engagement, the happy couple wed on September 5, 1991, and were married for almost 29 years.

Did Kelly Preston have any children with John Travolta?

Kelly welcomed three children with her husband John.

Their children include: Ella, 22, Benjamin, 11, and Jett.

Jett was known as the couple's eldest son but tragically passed away in 2009 at the age of 16.

He passed away while on a holiday in the Bahamas with his family after suffering a seizure and hitting his head on a bathtub.

Jett had a previous history with seizures, which started at the age of two, and had been hospitalized at 15 months old with Kawasaki disease and was on the autism spectrum.

Shortly after Preston's death, Travolta opened up about explaining it to his youngest son.

"[Ben] said to me once, 'Because mom passed away, I'm afraid you're going to,'" Travolta told Kevin Hart during an appearance on his talk show Hart to Hart in August 2021, via USA Today.

"I said, 'Well, it's a very different thing.' And I went through the differences about my longevity and her limited life," he continued.

"I said, 'Ben, you have always loved the truth, and I'm going to tell you the truth about life. Nobody knows when they are going to go or when they are going to stay."

"Your brother [Jett] left at 16. Too young. Your mother left at 57. That was too young. But who's to say? I could die tomorrow. You could. Anybody can," he added.

"So let's look at it like it's part of life. You don't know exactly. You just do your best at trying to live the longest you can."
