The latest series of Married at First Sight UK launched on Monday, August 29, with four couples tying the knot at fairytale locations across the country.
The first couple to walk down the MAFS aisle this year were contestants Duka and Whitney, with Whitney initially expressing her doubts towards her nuptials.
Other recently married couples in the latest season of the E4 show include Chanita and Jordan, Thomas and Adrian, and April and George.
Over the years, MAFS UK couples have tied the knot in lavish ceremonies that certainly come with a hefty price tag, but are the weddings all-expenses paid or do the couples have to dip into their own pockets for their ceremony?
Here's everything you need to know.
How much do the Married at First Sight weddings cost?
Since MAFS UK started back in 2015, couples have tied the knot in luxury stately homes and beautiful wedding venues across the country.
In previous years, couples have said 'I do' in locations including North Mymms Park's Grade-I listed Elizabethan stately home in Hertfordshire and the walled garden at Castle Ashby, Northamptonshire.
However, past MAFS contestants have revealed that the ceremonies are not all-expenses paid, and contestants have to fork out for the finer things to be included on their big day.
Former UK contestant Clark Sherwood – who appeared on the show back in 2019 – explained that money is given to cover some wedding costs but not everything.
Sherwood previously told Cosmopolitan: “There’s no financial gain from going on the show.
“There’s budget for things – her wedding dress, a small budget for the suits. There’s some money for hen-do and stag-dos, but it was mainly out of my pocket.
“I think they put money towards travel or something. But there was genuinely no monetary gain. Lots of people think, ‘No one would do that for free’, but actually I spent quite a lot of money on the process."
For the 2021 series, British radiator manufacturer Stelrad worked out the costs involved for the glamorous wedding ceremonies.
The priciest MAFS UK venue, based in Northamptonshire, with an average 100-person wedding would cost £24,850.
While a 100-person wedding in Hatfield’s North Mymms park, which was also used as a location in the 2021 series, would cost £15,850.
The average wedding dress cost is £1,600 with around £250 for any alterations.
The average cost of wedding flowers for the show is between £1,200 and £1,500
Most couples spend between £600 and £750 on a wedding cake in Hertfordshire.
Over the two incredible venues used in the previous series, here's the average total for venue hire, catering, wedding dress and more:
Venue hire: between £8,500 -£19,500
Catering: average£2,000
Wedding cake: average£650
Flowers: average£1,200
Photography: average £1,900
Dress: average£1,600.
Other MAFS UK wedding venues used in previous series include Eastwell Manor in Kent andPendrell Hall in Wolverhampton.
