FANS of ABC Melbourne Radio's Afternoons were left shocked when host Jacinta Parsons announced she was leaving the show.
Listeners are now keen to find out why the popular presenter has suddenly quit her afternoon slot.
Why is Jacinta Parsons leaving Victorian Afternoons?
On July 20, 2023, ABC Radio Melbourne’s Afternoons presenter Jacinta Parsons announced that she is stepping back from the show,
She told her audience at the start of her show, that she had decided to quit so she could "focus on other responsibilities outside the ABC".
Her last Afternoons show will be on Thursday, July 27, 2023.
Addressing her listeners with the news, Jacinta said: “Like so many, my life has gone through some changes over the past couple of months, which has meant I’ve had to make some changes to the way I can work.

“I’m desperately sad to say I’m needing to scale back from the Afternoons show so I can keep up with my other responsibilities.
“I’m grateful to the ABC for their support and very excited to say that I’m not leaving entirely – and will continue to join Brian Nankervis every single Friday for the Friday Revue.”
Speaking further about her decision to leave, Jacinta penned an emotional post on Instagram which read: "Life knows how to throw a couple of gutter balls atcha so you have to change up your game plan and be agile and pivot (as they say in pandemic speak) and maybe try a different size of bowling shoes or grab a different sized ball. (I wish i hadn’t used bowling as a metaphor – but no time to rewrite)
"And I realised late last year that I couldn’t do a full time, epic, daily radio show and have my eye on all the other things I need to have my eye on.

"I don't know how even to write these words… but next Thursday will be my last Afternoon show on ABC Radio Melbourne."
What other radio shows does Jacinta Parsons host?
ABC Radio Melbourne Content Director Shelley Hadfield said Jacinta would continue to be a much-loved member of the radio team.
“Jacinta was a lifeline to so many listeners at the height of the covid pandemic,” Shelley said.
“We know Jacinta is going to be sorely missed on Afternoons, but she will continue to be an integral part of the station.”
Jacinta will continue to co-host ABC Radio Melbourne's The Friday Revue with Brian Nankervis, every Friday from 12.30pm to 3.30pm.
When will Jacinta Parsons' replacement be announced?
Radio Melbourne have revealed that Jacinta's replacement will be announced "next week".
This means expect the news anytime between Monday, July 24, 2023 to Friday, July 28, 2023.

Jacinta's last day is on July 27, 2023, where she will broadcast her final Afternoons show.
