A woman has claimed she was kicked off a Southwest flight after trying to defend a fellow female passenger who was being ‘slut shamed’ by a ‘misogynistic’ attendant.
Melinna Bobadilla, an actress best known for her recurring role on Netflix’s ‘Gentefied’, shared her story on a now-viral Twitter thread where she said the airline allegedly ‘disrespected two women of color, endangered one by needlessly calling the cops’ to ‘protect a conservative white man.’
The Mexican-American actress had boarded the Southwest flight at Sacramento International Airport in California, where the incident involving Los Angeles-based singer Maybe Jacy was asked to cover up.
Ms Bobadilla said: ‘Hey friends just got pulled off a @SouthwestAir flight bc I advocated for a young woman being shamed and harassed by an employee for wearing a tank top that was deemed too revealing.’
She explained that the employee became ‘defensive’ when asking about what rules Jacy was breaking, responding: ‘She is wearing a corset and this is a family company. Some people find it offensive.’
Actress Melinna then told the attendant that she felt ‘threatened’ and ‘offended’ by the man directly behind her, who wore a ‘Let’s Go Brandon’ t-shirt, but says the employee did not care.

give me my money back smelly hoes @Southwest Airlines or send me a bottle of expensive champagne 😘 #fyp
‘Basically @SouthwestAir slut shamed a young woman of color for wearing a tank top they deemed offensive, forced her to wear a company issued sweater, removed me for questioning their misogynistic policy, exercised a double standard when enforcing an alleged offensive attire rule,’ she continued in her viral Twitter thread on Monday.
‘The raggedy folks at @SouthwestAir in Sacramento disrespected two women of color, endangered one by needlessly calling the cops, and went out of their way to protect a conservative white man. Yup that tracks. @SouthwestAir is steamy, stale trash. Go out of business already.’
It is understood that the police were called to escort her from the plane. Southwest Airlines’ official account on Twitter responded to Ms Bobadilla’s claims.
They responded: ‘Thanks for reaching out, Melinna, and we’re sorry to hear you were unable to travel to your destination as planned. Please send us a DM with your confirmation #, as well as any additional details about your experience.’

But the LA-based actress snapped back, demanding a refund and compensation: ‘I don’t have faith that this can be rectified via DMs Brenna, unless you are authorized to issue an official apology, reimburse me for all costs incurred related to booking new travel, and issue a check for damages and emotional distress.’
Maybe Jacy posted a video of her own on TikTok, which has got over 300,000 views, where she showed her top which got Ms Bobadilla thrown off the flight.
In one post, she captioned her video: ‘give me my money back smelly h**s @Southwest Airlines or send me a bottle of expensive champagne.’
She wrote on top of the video: ‘Bro I got dress coded on a south west flight? Are we in highschool? Are u upset about my shoulders? It’s 102 degrees? And it caused a scene because some sweet lady stuck up for me and then kicked off the flight.

‘Whoever grandma complained about me… catch me outside bich.’
And in a follow-up video explaining the incident further, she begins by saying: ‘Today has been a circus, and f*** you Southwest.
‘I was literally going to cry, I was about to cry. It was so embarrassing literally just being slut shamed in front of everybody.’
She inserted a screenshot of Ms Bobadilla’s Twitter thread, and said ‘If it wasn’t for this lady, my angel, I love her.’
The incident has garnered thousands of angry responses from members of the public, with one writing on Twitter: ‘She literally wasn’t even showing cleavage. The only body parts she was showing were her arms. That flight attendant was most likely a Karen just Karening.’

Another said she will be avoiding the airline entirely: ‘This is shameful! I will never fly @SouthwestAir again. Unbelievable that you think you can treat women this way.’
One looked up the regulations for plane dress codes: ‘There no rulea stating a woman cannot wear a corset on an airplane @SouthwestAir your employees on this flight are wrong they need thier money back and apologies asap!!’
‘So @SouthwestAir slut shamed a woman for wearing a tank top and then called the police on another woman who stood up for her,’ another said. ‘All while being ok with the man wearing the let’s go Brandon shirt. You have made your values loud and clear #southwest.’
