Before he became a Hollywood hero, Arnold Schwarzenegger had his own successful bricklaying business. 

And now it looks like he’s returned to the building trade as the unlikely star of an advertising campaign. 

The Terminator actor, 76, is fronting advertisements for discount supermarket Lidl’s power tool range. 

Proving he’s still happy to get his hands dirty he can be seen getting to grips with a chainsaw and an electric drill in the ad.

‘I’m here to talk about my tools for success,’ he says. ‘Everything I have ever built was because I had the power in the palm of my hands. Just like you!’ 

One scene shows him with a statue he has supposedly carved of himself in a pose from his bodybuilding days. 

He and a friend ran a bricklaying business in Los Angeles in the late 1960s after moving from Austria.
