A man has been arrested after a billionaire hardware store heiress was snatched from the street and forced into an SUV during an early morning jog.

Teacher Eliza Fletcher, heir to the fortune of Orgill hardware company was abducted after going for a run in Memphis, Tennessee at 4.30am on Friday and has not been seen since.

The 34-year-old mum was taken on the street and the shocking incident was captured on CCTV.

Cleotha Abston has now been charged with aggravated kidnapping and tampering with evidence following her disappearance.

The 38-year-old was identified by police as the owner of the black SUV which they claim the young woman was bundled into.

A second person was been arrested this weekend but police said that suspect, not identified, is "currently not believed to be connected" to the woman's disappearance.

The pre-kindergarten teacher's phone and water bottle were found close by having been hurled to the floor and broken, according to a report from Action News 5.

"The investigation into the abduction of Eliza Fletcher is still active and ongoing. Investigators are continuing the search and following all leads," police said today in a statement.

"The vehicle of interest has been located and a male who was occupying the vehicle has been detained. Eliza Fletcher has not been located."

Police were seen searching dumpsters outside of a McDonald's restaurant in Memphis on Saturday evening.

A local resident told KWAM: "They were knocking on doors of houses with cameras to see if we had anything helpful on our Ring.

"They told us to review our footage from yesterday 4:30am to 6:30am and send them anything valuable via a phone number they left with us."

She was reported missing a few hours later when she failed to arrive home and law enforcement officers arrived at the scene at approximately 7.45am.

Her father, Beasley, mother, Adele and brother Gill appeared alongside her husband to plea for information.

They have offered a $50,000 (£43,000) reward for information leading to the arrest of anyone responsible for her disappearance.
