A HOUSE has today been destroyed in a suspected gas explosion – seeing a neighbourhood evacuated.
Fire crews rushed to London's Battersea after reports an end-of-terrace house had exploded, seeing its roof collapse.
Medics also scrambled to the residential area, and were treating an injured man at the scene.
There is no update on his condition.
A cordon had been placed around the area while investigators probed the cause of the explosion.
London Fire Brigade said: "Firefighters have been called to an explosion at a house on Elsley Road in Battersea.

"A suspected gas explosion is affecting the whole of an end-of-terrace house, resulting in a partial roof collapse.
"One man left the building before the Brigade arrived and is being assessed on scene by London Ambulance Service crews.
"A 25-metre cordon is in place and affected properties are being evacuated.
"The Brigade was called at 1347. Fire crews from Chelsea, Wandsworth, Brixton and Clapham fire stations are at the scene.

"The cause is not known at this time."
London Ambulance Service added: "We were called today 10 August at 1:49pm to reports of a gas explosion on Elsley Road, Battersea.
“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast-response car and an incident response officer.
“Our teams are treating a man at the scene.”
