We all like to cool off on a hot summer’s day. But one Californian bear found a spot too good to turn down on Saturday.
A video has gone viral of the moment the brazen bear scaled a garden wall to enjoy a dip in a family’s pool – leaving social media users stunned.
The home owner, Steve Bray from the city of Monrovia, California, said the bear came to use his pool on 31 August, with the weather hitting over 30 degrees Celsius on the day.
He later shared CCTV images of the incident on Facebook, where it has left social media users in stitches.

‘And just like that…a bear decided to go for a swim in our pool. Never a dull moment in the Bray house,’ Steve captioned the post.
In the video, the bear can be seen scaling the wall before walking along the edge of the outdoor swimming pool.
The bear then decides to plunge into the water and apparently swims a couple of lengths before climbing back over the garden wall and going about its business. Social media users have praised the bear for its cheeky behavior.
‘I don’t blame him,’ wrote one person. ‘Smart bear. Good day for a cool dip,’ wrote one user. ‘It’s so frickin hot!’ said another person.
‘He was unbearably hot…,’ commented someone else.
‘Oh man… the bears are heating up too. Can you imagine wearing a fur coat on a 100 plus degree day,’ wrote another user.
‘Looks like someone had a little fun!’ commented someone else.
Bray told Jam Press that the family was not aware the bear was using his pool at the time.
The CCTV footage showed it was only on their property for around five minutes. He added: ‘We’ve been in Monrovia for about 20 years so we’ve gotten used to it (bear visits). It’s part of it and to be honest with you, I think it’s a real treat.’
It is unclear if this was the same bear filmed wandering the streets of Monrovia later in the week.
