  • EXCLUSIVE: Martine Rendell and her boyfriend allegedly escaped with goods

A hotel guest who stripped her room of everything she could carry was being questioned by police today.

Beautician Martine Rendell, 43, and her boyfriend allegedly escaped with a haul of luxury towels, two lamps, an electric fan, clock radio, kettle and tea caddy.

Rendell refused to answer her door to MailOnline this afternoon – but a police van arrived at her three-bedroomed semi in the village of Taffs Well, near Cardiff, and two officers were let in.

Her boyfriend who had been with her at the hotel arrived at the address minutes later and the couple were quizzed about the events of last Saturday night. His identity has yet to emerge.

Mother-of-two Rendell was traced by police after using a bank card with her name on it when checking into the Dolphin Hotel in Pembroke Dock, West Wales, last Saturday night.

The ‘super friendly’ pair socialised with other guests and staff at the 10-room hotel before going to their room at 11.30pm.

They paid £80 for the one-night stay and left with items worth £200 the next morning when they checked out.

Hotel staff went to the room to clean it and were stunned to find it had been stripped bare.

All that was left was complimentary shower gel and shampoo in the bathroom and the wall-mounted TV – even the remote control was gone.

Landlady Natalie Newton, 43, checked the hotel’s CCTV and saw images of the couple going to their car to fetch a holdall and a large shopping bag to carry off the stolen goods.

Natalie gave police the CCTV and the woman’s name from the reservation she made through Booking.Com.

She said: ‘I still can’t get over the cheek of it – or the stupidity.

‘They booked through Booking.com and her first card was declined. But the second one had her name on it.

‘They actually checked out 25 minutes late which is not surprising because they had a lot of packing to do.

Rendell, a grandmother who describes herself as a health/beauty worker on Instagram, has lived at the semi for years but her boyfriend only recently moved in.

She has two sons, one in his twenties the other in his late teens, from a previous marriage.

Neighbours say there have been complaints because the couple burn plastic rubbish in their garden and the fumes drift over the area.

The pair were seen on CCTV stripping their hotel room of items and taking them back to their car

They escaped with two fluffy white bath towels, two hand towels, an electric fan, two lamps, a kettle, tea caddy and a tower extension block with USB ports

The hotel’s owner put the CCTV pictures on social media asking people to come forward to name and shame the room strippers

One neighbour said: ‘It seems crazy – she was never going to get away with it – she and her boyfriend were right in front of the CCTV cameras.’
