Brit, 42, falls 300ft to his death while climbing Austrian mountain that features terrifying aerial ladder popular with Instagrammers

A British climber fell over 300ft to his death while climbing along an aerial ladder on an Austrian mountain.
The unnamed Brit, who was 42 years old, died as he got off a via ferrata, or ‘iron path’, run by Intersport on the Gosaukamm, in the Dachstein Mountains near Salzburg, Austria, last Tuesday morning.
Two helicopter crews, along with several officers from Hallein Alpine and Abtenau police, were scrambled after he fell off the end of the 130-ft long ladder, Salzburg State Police told MailOnline.
Sadly, rescuers were unable to save him, and had to retrieve his body from the deep gully underneath the via ferrata.
The police said that the man was alone on the via ferrata, and have since ruled out third-party negligence.

‘According to the conclusion of the police investigation, it is clearly an accident,’ a spokesperson said.
Intersport’s via ferrata leads to the summit of the Großer Donnerkogel path. Climbing experts have reported that the climb is very exposed.
The iron path is also extremely popular on social media, with more than 3,500 posts about it on Instagram alone.
In 2020, extreme athlete Stefanie Millinger balanced on the ladder in a ballet costume with no harness on.
