The taxi driver, 57, got out of the vehicle to chastise the tourists, but was pulled to the ground and attacked with punches and kicks.

Two separate videos, both believed to be of same incident, show a man in a mint-green shirt – who is thought to be the suspect – standing over another man lying on the floor wearing a black T-shirt – believed to be the taxi driver.

A vehicle is shown stopped in the middle of a road next to where the alleged attack unfolds, causing a small traffic jam.

The first video was shot from across the road and behind the stopped vehicles, and sees the moment the supposed suspect throws a punch at the taxi driver, causing him to fall backwards.

While the taxi driver is prone on the pavement, the suspect appears to continue his assault, wrestling with the man and throwing more punches at his head.

As cars drive past the fight and concerned bystanders gather, a third man is shown trying to pull the suspect off the taxi driver. The suspect argues with this man, and is then shown walking away from the scene with others, believed to be his friends.

As the suspect walks off, his right fist appears to be covered in blood.

Another person is then shown trying to flag someone down, possibly either trying to get the attention of the police or call for medical attention.

In the second video – shot from in front of the stopped car – the footage begins as the attack is stopped. The suspect in the mint-green shirt is seen being pulled away from the man on the ground, who appears to be covered in blood.

The taxi driver is shown on the floor barely moving as onlookers confront the suspect and tell him to leave the scene, while others take photos as he leaves.

The identities of the people involved in the incident have not been released, but local sources said the suspect was a 21-year-old British man. He was tracked down after police spoke with witnesses to the alleged assault.

According to Olive Press – an English language Spanish newspaper – officials are still working to locate the man’s compatriots. The newspaper reported that the man was intoxicated at the time of the alleged attack, which took place at around 2am.

The case has been passed on to the Guardia Civil (Civil Guard) – one of Spain’s two national police forces.

Local reports said the taxi driver received first aid at the scene and was transferred to Son Espases Hospital with an injury.

He is not believed to be in a serious condition.

In solidarity with their injured colleague, local taxi drivers ceased their services in Magluf on Tuesday, according to Olive Press.
