- Staff in the Home Office’s Homeland Security Group received a lecture
- Officials have been advised to introduce themselves using preferred pronouns
- They have been told to avoid offensive terms such as transvestite or transsexual
- A Home Office spokesman said they were committed to ‘diversity and inclusion’
Civil servants leading the fight against terrorism have been given lessons on ‘neopronouns’ used by non-binary people such as ‘zie’ and ‘ey’.
Staff in the Home Office’s Homeland Security Group were told that ‘it is not a modern invention’ for people to identify as neither male nor female, in a lecture by colleagues last week.
They were also encouraged to ‘introduce your own’ pronouns and ask people how they like to be referred to, but warned not to use offensive terms including transvestite and transsexual.
The internal lecture was given to Home Office officials last week even though Home Secretary Suella Braverman has repeatedly spoken out against ‘woke’ diversity and equality training – and last night her department insisted it was not official policy.

A 12-page printout of the ‘lunch and learn’ presentation on gender identities was obtained by the Guido Fawkes website this week [mon].
It starts with the ‘genderbread person’ diagram that distinguishes between a person’s sex, gender identity, whether they present as masculine or feminine, and who they are attracted to.
It warns: ‘A person’s sex, gender identity and gender expression may vary and not correspond.’
Describing non-binary people, it says they may identify as a combination of genders, none at all or ‘fluid between genders’.
The guide states that some people used ‘mixed’ or ‘split’ pronouns such as ‘he/they’ or ‘she/they’.
‘This means that they use both sets of pronouns for themselves, so she, her, they and them are all acceptable and can be used interchangeably,’ it says.
It adds that ‘not all non-binary people use he or she pronouns’ and ‘many use they and them’.
‘Neopronouns like “zie” or “ey” also exist,’ it advises.
