Demand to have a pub in your garden has soared, a study shows.
Toolstation suppliers questioned 1,000 carpenters, joiners and builders to find the ‘key trends’ of 2023.
They found that, rather than doing up the inside of homes, 54 per cent of Britons want work done on their gardens, like building garden bars, gazebos and barbecue zones.
Eleven per cent of the tradesfolk surveyed said they had been tasked with building a garden bar or ‘pub shed’ this year.
Compared to this time last year, demand for garden bars has risen by 400 per cent.

The accounts worker said: ‘When I ask my friends round they can’t believe I’ve got a bar in my garden.
‘They take a pew on a stool and give me their order – usually a pint or a glass of wine and a bag of crisps.’
He added: ‘I was thinking about charging them as it’s costing me a fortune!’
A spokesman for Toolstation said that sales of pub benches and bar stools were also soaring.
He said: ‘We found that 11% of the tradespeople we asked had been asked to build a garden bar in recent months.’
Matt Kent, of Toolstation, said: ‘It has already been a summer of sport to remember, and with the World Cup now underway we’re sure there will be more iconic moments to come.
