Denver weather: Cloudy Wednesday likely to bring afternoon storms

Wednesday is going to be mostly cloudy with some likely afternoon storms in the Denver metro area, bringing the temperature down to a cooler 82 degrees.

The poor visibility from earlier this week due to smoke will improve Wednesday as well.

The mountains will have widespread showers and storms going into the afternoon. Brief, heavy rain and wind gusts up to 50 mph are possible in these storms, as well as flash flooding in burn areas.

The storms will leave the area by late Wednesday evening, and the low temperature is 56 degrees, but Thursday could see some more storms.

Those storms will be mainly in the mountains, but it is possible for isolated storms or showers to push into the Interstate 25 corridor in the evening. Thursday’s high is set set at 78 degrees.

Showers on Friday will be isolated in the high country, beginning a weekend of dry conditions that will stick around until Monday.

Temperatures Friday and into the weekend will be back into the mid to high 80s.
