ALL flights to and from Edinburgh Airport were forced to hold or be diverted sparking early morning travel chaos.
The airport closed its runaway for repairs for thirty minutes to fix a 'weather-related pothole' this morning as holidaymakers and commuters awaited an update on their travel plans.
Passengers caught in the delays have taken to social media to share their experiences.
One traveller said they were already boarded and waiting to take off before being told their flight was to be held for half an hour.
They said: "We’re on a plane waiting to take off from Edinburgh and just been told the run way is reopening at 8:50am.
Another EasyJet flight was diverted from Edinburgh to Newcastle asthe airport was closed to all new arrivals.
A third flight was reported to be diverted from Edinburgh to Glasgow within 10 minutes of landing.
A passenger said: "Just diverted to Glasgow 10 mins before due to land. What’s going on?"
A United airline flight was held over Peebles as a Delta airline was kept over Falkirk as other services were directed to Glasgow.

Edinburgh airport confirmed services were suspended as emergency repairs were made to the airfield.
They said they have now been completed.
A spokesperson for Edinburgh Airport said: "Arrivals and departures were suspended for a short period while our teams carried out emergency repairs on our airfield.
"This has since been completed and all operations have resumed. Safety is our priority and we thank passengers for their patience."
