Elon Musk warns nuclear war is ‘possible’ outcome of Russia’s war on Ukraine

Elon Musk has warned nuclear warfare is one of five possible outcomes of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The world's richest man has taken to the social media platform he almost bought earlier this year, to ask followers a poll on how they can see Vladimir Putin's war ending.

Russian troops, tanks and artillery have devastated large regions of Ukraine since February 24, causing unthinkable widespread bloodshed and displacement.

Musk who has been previously thanked by captured British soldier Aiden Aslin, for providing satellite signal with Starlink, now appears to be set on wrapping the conflict up through democratic diplomacy.

In his true eccentric billionaire fashion, the Tesla mogul launched a poll on Monday evening to see what his 108million Twitter following made of his proposed conflict resolution.

He wrote: "Ukraine- Russia Peace: – Redo elections of annexed regions under UN supervision. Russia leaves if that is will of the people. – Crimea formally part of Russia, as it has been since 1783 (until Khrushchev’s mistake). – Water supply to Crimea assured. – Ukraine remains neutral."

People were asked to simply click on 'Yes' or 'No' tabs to respond.

After two hours of the poll being live, an astonishing one million people answered with the 'No' receiving an overwhelming amount of votes at 62.6% to 35.4%.

Musk did caveat his question, however, with a more chilling prospect of nuclear war.

He wrote: "This is highly likely to be the outcome in the end – just a question of how many die before then.

"Also worth noting that a possible, albeit unlikely, outcome from this conflict is nuclear war."

Musk returned to Twitter an hour later with a new poll for people to answer yet not everyone appreciated his line of questioning.

"Let’s try this then: the will of the people who live in the Donbas & Crimea should decide whether they’re part of Russia or Ukraine," he pitched.

A concerned follower commented: "Elon, you've done SO MUCH GOOD for Ukraine by enabling Starlink & providing thousands of terminals. As a fellow Aspie I get that you're hyperfocused on this topic right now, but these polls and the tweets about bot attacks aren't helping – in fact, they enrage many Ukrainians."

Explaining his position, the South African-born entrepreneur replied: "You are assuming that I wish to be popular. I don’t care. I do care that millions of people may die needlessly for an essentially identical outcome."
