LEVI Bellfield tried to kill himself after “flipping out” on the anniversary of the Lin and Megan Russell murders.

The serial killer, 54, slashed his groin with a craft knife and was taken for treatment.

He has now tried to kill himself three times since guards thwarted his first suicide attempt in November.

Dr Russell, 45, and daughter Megan, six, were killed in Chillenden, Kent, on July 9, 1996, while Megan’s nine-year-old sister Josie survived.

A source said: “Bellfield flipped out. The anniversary always gets to him.

“He was in a real state and was shouting at people on the phone and had a go at his female partner when she visited.
