Fashion designer claims Sam Brinton wore clothing from lost luggage

Houston-based Tanzanian fashion designer who lost her luggage at airport in 2018 claims Biden’s fired non-binary nuclear waste guru Sam Brinton was pictured in one of her custom-made outfits

  • Former Department of Energy (DOE) official Sam Brinton was fired last year
  • Brinton has been accused of stealing luggage from multiple airports
  • Fashion designer Asya Khamsin who reported her luggage missing in 2018, alleges that Brinton has been wearing the clothing from her missing suitcase

A Tanzanian fashion designer based in Houston has accused President Biden’s former non-binary nuclear waste guru Sam Brinton of wearing her custom-made outfits that vanished with her luggage in 2018 from a Washington, DC airport.

Asya Khamsin tweeted the claim on Monday sharing side by side photos of herself wearing one of her outfits next to a photo that surfaced of Brinton in what she believes is the same one.

Khamsin reported her luggage missing after it disappeared from the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport on March 9, 2018. Her clothes were never recovered and the case was never solved.

But then her one-of-a-kind designs suddenly appeared on Brinton in recent news reports, amid accusations of stealing luggage at other airports. So, she filed a complaint with the Houston Police Department in December.

Brinton was let go from their Department of Energy (DOE) position after the multiple theft allegations last year.

Fashion designer Asya Khamsin has accused President Biden’s fired non-binary nuclear waste guru Sam Brinton of wearing her custom-made outfits that vanished with her luggage in 2018

Asya Khamsin tweeted the claim Monday sharing side by side photos of herself wearing one of her outfits next to a photo that surfaced of Brinton (in 2019) in what she believes is the same

Khamsin told Fox News Digital in a recent interview that she recognized her designs on Brinton who had been prominent in the news cycle.

‘I saw the images. Those were my custom designs, which were lost in that bag in 2018,’ she said. ‘He wore my clothes, which was stolen.’

Khamsin’s luggage containing the outfits she has accused Brinton of being photographed in, went missing at the airport when she flew to Washington, D.C. in 2018 for an event.

The outfits were meant to be on display, but Khamsin said she was not able to do the event after they went missing.

Khamsin filed a police report with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Department as well as a complaint with Delta Air Lines, while she pleaded with the airlines to help locate her lost bag of expensive clothing and jewelry.

When Brinton’s photos appeared on the news, Khamsin became convinced they were wearing her outfits that went missing from the airport.

Brinton attended The Trevor Project TrevorLIVE NYC on June 11, 2018 in an outfit that Khamsin said resembled her outfits that went missing with her luggage in March 2018

Khamsin shared photos on her social media of her designs compared to what Brinton was seen wearing after her luggage with the clothing was stolen from an airport in Washington, DC

Khamsin then filed a complaint with the Houston Police Department on December 16 and spoke with the FBI about the investigation, but as of this week Brinton has not been charged with a crime connected to Khamsin’s claims.

Last week, Brinton walked out of a Minnesota court after a preliminary hearing on luggage theft charges in a separate incident. They could face up to five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine if found guilty.

According to the complaint, Brinton removed a tag from a woman’s luggage and walked out with the bag at Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport on September 16. The items inside were appraised at $2,325.

American Airlines later confirmed that Brinton had not checked a bag on their flight from Washington, D.C. The victim was shown footage of Brinton with the suitcase, she confirmed that it was her luggage. Brinton was ordered not to have any contact with the victim.

The judge referred to Brinton as Mx Brinton. Mx is a common gender-neutral title for non-binary people who do not wish to have a gender referred to in their title.

Sam Brinton dodged a reporter’s questions as they left court in Minneapolis last week

Independent photojournalist Rebecca Brannon recorded Brinton exiting the court. They ignored reporter’s questions including, ‘Why would you want some lady’s dirty clothes?’

Another reporter asked if Brinton was there to have a job interview with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s administration.

Another asked if they had visited ‘the Larry Craig restroom,’ a reference for former Republican Senator Larry Craig who was arrested for lewd conduct in a bathroom at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport in 2007.

When Brinton returned to the nation’s capital two days after the alleged theft they are accused of, they checked the bag as if it was theirs. The nuclear scientist then used the bag on a trip to Europe in October.

Brinton was contacted by investigators and lied initially saying they had not taken the bag. They later admitted to the crime but claimed it was an accident.

They also said that they had left the woman’s clothing in a hotel room in St. Paul, however it was never recovered.

In a separate incident, Brinton is accused of stealing a different woman’s luggage from Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas.

They appeared in court in December on those charges, then freed on a $15,000 bail.

In October 2022, Sam Brinton was accused of stealing a woman’s Vera Bradley suitcase on September 16 at Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport from a baggage carousel

A security footage image showed Brinton walking through Harry Reid International Airport with the luggage during the summer.

The $320 case, which was lifted from a carousel, was stuffed with more than $3,000-worth of jewelry, clothes and makeup, investigators have said.

The hearing was originally supposed to take place on December 19. A few days prior to that original date, Brinton was fired by the Department of Energy.

A spokesperson said: ‘Sam Brinton is no longer a DOE employee. By law, the Department of Energy cannot comment further on personnel matters.’

It’s unclear if Brinton resigned of their own accord, if they were fired – or if they were given the chance to resign before being fired.

The White House has repeatedly refused to comment on the scandal, claiming it is a non-political issue.

The Department of Energy has also tried to distance Biden from the issue.

Brinton was appointed in June with much fanfare.

‘Sam is also a well-known advocate for LGBTQ youth and helped to secure protections against the dangerous and discredited practice of conversion therapy in more than half of the country,’ it said.

‘They identify as gender-fluid and use the pronouns they, them, and theirs,’ their bio reads.

On top of working in the Department of Energy, they also held seminars including a recent event on spanking.

Brinton lives in Washington, D.C. with their husband.
