Fourth grade teacher Alissa McCommon, 38, is charged with raping a 12-year-old boy at her home in Tennessee – as cops hunt for MORE victims who she ‘befriended on social media’

A fourth-grade English and Social Studies teacher from Tennessee has been charged with raping a 12-year-old boy as cops hunt for more victims the predator teacher ‘be-friended on social media.’

Alissa McCommon, 38, a mother of two, was arrested outside her home by officers from the Covington Police Department on Friday. She is being held on $25,000 bond.

McCommon, who was dressed in a maroon long-sleeved tee shirt, grey joggers, and  sneakers, was handcuffed by cops outside her two-story brick home before she was carted off in a police vehicle to the Tipton County Jail.

The elementary school teacher who taught at Charger Academy was accused of having a sexual encounter with one of her former students in 2021. The alleged tryst happened at her home. The child was only 12 years old at the time, Covington Police Chief Donna Turner said.

The school learned about McCommon’s misconduct on August 24 after a parent came forward with the disturbing allegations. She was suspended that day, district leadership said, Yahoo News reported.

Police said that multiple juvenile victims came forward claiming that McCommon had started interacting with them first on social media and that she began playing video games with some of them.

The inappropriate behavior escalated when she reportedly sent them racy pictures and asked to have sex with them. 

Officials said that during their investigation, McCommon confessed that she spoke with the former students in an in appropriate way.

Many parents were horrified when they learned about the teacher’s sick conduct, with some furious that they heard about it two weeks later through a Facebook post .

Some are considering homeschooling their children due to their broken trust in the school district, and are seeking answers from the Tipton School Board.

Bianca Taylor told Fox13 Memphis that when her son got home from school she asked him if his teacher had been in school lately. 

She said her son told her there was a substitute teacher because the school said the teacher was home sick.

‘I do hope they take matters seriously, because any other situation. If it was a man doing it the opposite way, y’all would take it more seriously,’ Taylor said. ‘Even if she did it or didn’t do it, it needs to be looked at and not swept under the rug.’

Investigators said, so far, none of the alleged sexual acts are believed to have taken place on school grounds. 

The police chief called the ordeal ‘unbearable,’ and said resources are being provided to the victims. 

‘It’s unspeakable and it’s 100 percent preventable. I think that’s why the detectives and we are so passionate about making sure victims are okay,’ said Chief Turner.

McCommon, a mother of two, is seen pictured with her two children. The photo was posted to her Instagram on August 8, 2022 with the caption: ‘1st day of 8th and 5th!’

McCommon’s attorney, Jere Mason said his client maintains her innocence. 

‘We believe that it’s borderline a witch hunt on social media and that’s frustrating to us,’ Mason said.

‘What we’re asking is that the public be patient and allow the justice system to do it’s job and not create further persecution on the alleged victims or on the family of the defendant.’

Tipton County Schools said that McCommon also worked at the CrestView Elementary School. Police continue to interview witnesses and search for more victims in the case.

They said the investigation is still ongoing and additional charges are expected. McCommon is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on October 13.
