One of London’s most popular bakeries, Wenzel’s is set to open nine new locations by the end of the year.
The bakery chain will begin opening their new stores from the end of September, as part of an expansion plan, according to The Sun.
Wenzels first opened its doors in 1975 in London and expanded to high streets in the south east and the Midlands.
Now, it will spread into the south west of England and before heading nationwide by the end of 2024, according to The Sun.
The bakery chain already boasts over 100 stores, but will reportedly be opening the following:

- Hazelmere, Buckinghamshire – September 20
- Harpenden, Hertfordshire – end of September
- Poole, Dorset – beginning of October
- Salisbury town centre – mid October
- West Thurrock, Essex – mid October
- Camberley, Surrey – end of October
- Bracknell, Berkshire – November
- Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire – November
- Lakeside Shopping Centre, Essex – December
It follows recent openings in Winchester, Southampton, King’s Langley and Northampton.
General manager of Wenzel’s, Karl Spinks, told the Sun: ‘This is an exciting time for Wenzel’s as we continue to grow and bring our fresh, quality products to more locations across the UK.
The bakery boasts over 100 stores and has recently set up shop in Winchester, Southampton, King’s Langley and Northampton
‘We look forward to welcoming new and existing customers to our new locations.’
MailOnline has contacted Wenzels for comment.
The bakery chain offers sweet and savoury food items at reasonable prices, selling cake slices for as little as £1.
The store also sells hot and cold food bags via Too Good To Go, which can be picked up at the end of the day to avoid food waste.
Hot bags are priced at £4.75, while cold bags are slightly less at £4.95. According to the app, each bag contains around £12 worth of items.
Wenzel’s close rival Greggs, has also been expanding this year and hopes to open 150 stores by the end of 2023.
It currently runs around 2,300 shops across the UK, but said it hopes to expand to more than 3,000 as part of its long-term growth strategy.
The popular bakery chain announced it will open eight new bakeries across the UK in the next two months.
It said the new branches will open between August and September this year, but did not give any specific dates.
