Groom-to-be dies on his stag do after bus comes off road and lands on building

A 31-year-old groom-to-be was tragically killed on his stag do following a bus crash.

The devastating incident happened on a coach that had 32 passengers on board and was being driven close to the Austrian town of Schladming, which lies 140 miles south-west of the country's capital city of Vienna.

It came off the road in the western Austrian province of Syria and then careered down an embankment, rolling over several times and killing the husband-to-be.

Reports have suggested that the driver struck a barrier while turning sharply on a country lane and the bus finally came to a halt down the slope when it landed on the roof of a building.

The 51-year-old bus driver and four other passengers were seriously injured and rushed to hospital, whilst a further 26 were described as being slightly injured.

German news outlet Die Welt confirmed that the deceased man was celebrating his stag do at the time of the tragedy.

He and a group of friends had been returning from a tobogganing trip.

It has been reported that the victim lived in the south-west German town of Rottal-Inn in Bavaria.

According to officials, more than 160 emergency services personnel from the ambulance service, fire brigade and police attended the scene.

In a statement, a police spokesperson said: "The coach was secured on the instructions of the Leoben public prosecutor's office and will be examined by experts."
