WA Police are investigating a “targeted” suspected gangland shooting after a man was found dead in a rural north-east Perth suburb.
Officers were called to a workshop on Sydney Road in Gnangara about 4pm Thursday, where they found a 34-year-old man who had been shot dead.
The gunman remains at large, however homicide squad Detective Senior Sergeant Keith Neubronner said the incident appeared to be a “targeted attack”.
“Based on what we know so far it appears this incident was a targeted attack, and while the offender is clearly a dangerous person there is no information to suggest nearby residents were in any direct danger,” he said.
“As our investigation continues we believe information from the community could provide us with a key piece of the investigation puzzle, and we ask anyone who has information or camera vision that could assist with this investigation to make contact with us.”
Detectives remained at the scene through Thursday afternoon and overnight as police worked to uncover more details about the shooting.
Police are calling for anyone with CCTV, dash-cam or mobile phone footage of the area between 1pm and 4.30pm, especially of any people or vehicles entering or leaving Sydney Road, to upload the files directly to investigators.
Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or make a report online.
