Harry Kane wore £520,000 RAINBOW Rolex before win against Iran

Harry ‘s not so subtle dig at FIFA: Captain Kane wore £520,000 RAINBOW Rolex when he arrived for England’s World Cup win over Iran after being banned from donning OneLove armband

  • England captain Harry Kane was pictured wearing a £520,000 rainbow Rolex
  • It comes as FIFA finds itself in a controversy over Qatar’s laws on homosexuality
  • Teams were advised not to wear armbands in support of LGBTQ+ communities

England captain Harry Kane was pictured wearing a £520,000 rainbow Rolex as he arrived at FIFA’s stadium in Doha on Monday ahead of England’s World Cup win over Iran.

It comes as FIFA finds itself embroiled in a controversy over host nation Qatar’s human rights record, specifically its ban of homosexuality.

Teams were told not to wear OneLove armbands in support of LGBTQ+ communities, although German players protested by placing their hands over their mouths before their match against Japan – a signal of being silenced.

Kane’s rainbow Rolex – potentially a reference to the rainbow Pride flag – could be interpreted as a similar symbolic protest.

Instagram account Insane Luxury Life shared a snap of Kane wearing the timepiece, which was previously worn by Stormzy at the Brit Awards in 2020.

They captioned it with: ‘The captain of England @harrykane wears a rare @rolex Daytona ‘Rainbow’ 116595RBOW in 18k rose gold, one of the most sought after pieces on market.

‘This masterpiece is set with 36 baguette-cut rainbow sapphires on bezel, 56 brilliant-cut diamonds on the case and 11 baguette-cut rainbow colored sapphires as hour markers.

‘The Daytona Rainbow was first released in 2012 in 18k white gold and 18k yellow gold, at the time they weren’t much appreciated by the market. #Rolex.’

They then shared that the retail price is $135,850, while the current market price is $650,000.

Kane returned to full training on Thursday – but James Maddison was still absent ahead of England’s second World Cup game against the United States.

Kane suffered an ankle knock during the 6-2 thrashing of Iran that opened England’s tournament but the scans came back all-clear and he will be fit to play.

The Three Lions captain trained individually on Wednesday but was passed fit to rejoin the group at Al Wakrah on Thursday.

England manager Gareth Southgate speaks with Kane in the gym on Wednesday

Kane suffered a knock to his right ankle after a clumsy challenge by Morteza Pouraliganji in England’s 6-2 win against Iran on Monday – the national team’s biggest ever win at the start of a major tournament.

The Spurs striker, who has a history of ankle problems, did play on for 25 minutes but was seen limping after the game and went for a precautionary scan.

But after he completed a lighter training session on Wednesday, England manager Gareth Southgate confirmed Kane would be fit to face the United States.

MailOnline revealed in September that Kane hired highly-respected Spaniard, who works out of Ontario, Canada, to help him cure his well-documented ankle issues.

The expert has worked wonders with Kane, who has been relatively injury-free for over two years after a history of niggling problems – particularly with his ankles.

The latest development comes as a huge boost for England manager Gareth Southgate

Elorriaga Claraco, who studied at the University of Oviedo in Spain and McMaster University in Canada, works with Kane on a once monthly basis away from Tottenham’s training centre in Enfield.

The Football Association are aware of Kane’s contact with Elorriaga Claraco during the tournament.

Tottenham’s managing director of football Fabio Paratici is also in Doha and has been kept updated on the striker’s condition given Kane’s huge importance to the Premier League club.

Speaking on Wednesday, Kane’s team-mate Jordan Pickford allayed concerns over the Tottenham striker’s fitness: ‘I think he is good, a little bit sore but he is fine and been out with us on the grass. He is our captain, he has been good. He is fine.’
