Hilaria Baldwin slammed for 'beyond offensive' Spanish accent

Boston-born Hilaria Baldwin is ridiculed for slipping into ‘beyond offensive’ Spanish accent while asking photographers to leave her kids alone in wake of husband Alec’s manslaughter charge

Hilaria Baldwin has come under fire again for using a fake Spanish accent while telling off photographers.

The born-and-bred Bostonian, 39, apologized two years ago for faking a Spanish accent and claimed she had been raised with two cultures.

Now, she is under fire again after she approached photographers in New York City to chew them out for taking pictures of her children.

Hilaria – who was born Hillary Lynn Hayward-Thomas – appeared to slip back into her old accent as she dodged questions about her husband’s involuntary manslaughter charge.

The actor, 64, and armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, were charged for the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins for firing the fatal shot on the set of Rust. Baldwin says he’ll fight the charges vigorously, calling it a ‘miscarriage of justice.’

His wife approached photographers this week, cutting off their questions, stating: ‘I’m going to tell you what I’m going to say, you’re not going to ask me questions. I want you guys to realize we have seven kids, and you being here to escort them to school and to be there when they come home is not good.

‘So, on a human level, you know that I’m not going to say anything to you. You know that. So please, leave my family in peace and let it play out.’ Hilaria’s accent grew markedly more European-sounding as her diatribe went on.

Baldwin’s accent came out after she approached photographers to criticize them for hounding her children while they’re going and coming from school. ‘Go home, because I’m not going to say anything and Alec is not going to say anything’

The yoga instructor went on to say that it’s a ‘very hard thing as a mom to explain’ to her children why a crowd of people have been following them around and asking questions, before she reminded them that she nor her husband Alec, 64, will be answering questions.

‘So please, go home, because I’m not going to say anything and Alec is not going to say anything,’ she concluded before dodging questions about their lawyers.

Despite some being sympathetic to her cause, many were ‘offended’ by the reappearance of the accent.

‘It’s just beyond offensive at this point that she continues with this Spanish accent. Regardless of the chaos of her mind and this situation – you’re not Spanish,’ one wrote on Twitter.

Another wrote: ‘Absolutely love that she’s like “well we traveled to Spain annually” ma’am you lived in BOSTON daily. Boston accents aren’t simply avoided!’

A woman named Perla wrote: ‘Hillary needs to end this accent.’

‘I saw people feeling badly for her being stalked by paps, and of course that’s valid, but the AAAAAACCENT my GOD. In other words you are completely correct,’ a woman wrote.

Another, Tony Choi, joke everyone should be searching for ‘a man who is as committed to you as she is to the bit.’

Ceda Xiong wrote: ‘It’s her emotional support accent.’

A man named Bradley joked ‘she and Austin Butler need some kind of support group for people who can’t turn off the fake voice.’

Another criticized Hilaria – whose real name is Hillary – for ‘never missing an opportunity to snatch a little bit of the spotlight.’

‘She didn’t need to make this speech,’ a woman, Marielle, wrote.

The influencer was forced to confess she had been born in Boston and went by the name Hillary after she had spent years claiming Majorca was her birthplace and that she only arrived in the US at the age of 19.

‘My parents raised my brother and me with two cultures, American and Spanish, and I feel a true sense of belonging to both,’ she said at the time. ‘The way I’ve spoken about myself and my deep connection to two cultures could have been better explained – I should have been more clear and I’m sorry.

Many slammed the yoga instructor for the reappearance of her accent, with one calling it her ’emotional support accent’

‘I’m proud of the way I was raised, and we’re raising our children to share the same love and respect for both,’ she continued. ‘Being vulnerable and pushing ourselves to learn and grow is what we’ve built our community on, and I hope to get back to the supportive and kind environment we’ve built together.’

Several former classmates came forward to confirm that Hilaria was in fact raised in Weston, Massachusetts, by American parents without a hint of a foreign accent.

Despite the social prosecution Hilaria is facing, her husband might actually face jail time, and the Santa Fe prosecutor is pretty confident Alec will be convicted of his charge.

In an interview after the announcement with CNN, she said Baldwin did pull the trigger – and that he ran a ‘fast and loose set’ that was plagued with safety issues.

‘There was such a lack of safety and safety standards on that set. There were live rounds on set, they were mixed in with dummy rounds.

‘Nobody was checking those or at least they weren’t checking them consistently.

‘They somehow got loaded into a gun, handed off to Alec Baldwin, he didn’t check it, he didn’t do what he was supposed to do to make sure he was safe or make sure anyone else was safe.

Armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed has also been charged with involuntary manslaughter

Prosecutor Mary Carmack-Alwies is confident Alec will be convicted of his charge and won’t get off just because he’s an actor

‘He pointed the gun at Halyna Hutchins and he pulled the trigger,’ she said.

She said a ‘totality of the circumstances’ led to the decision, adding: ‘This was a really fast and loose set. And that nobody was doing their job.’

While it may have been an accident, she said Baldwin ‘doesn’t get a free pass’ because he’s a star.

In a statement, Baldwin’s attorney said: ‘This decision distorts Halyna Hutchins’ tragic death and represents a terrible miscarriage of justice. Mr. Baldwin had no reason to believe there was a live bullet in the gun — or anywhere on the movie set.

‘He relied on the professionals with whom he worked, who assured him the gun did not have live rounds. We will fight these charges, and we will win.’
