AN AREA 51 researcher has said FBI agents burst into his home and handcuffed him at gunpoint before taking all his computers bid to silence him.

Joerg Arnu, who runs the popular Dreamland Resort website dedicated to the goings on at the mysterious base in Nevada, says the agents burst into his home in the dead of night last week.

Anru said his home in Las Vegas and also in the town of Rachel were searched by a "combined team" of the FBI and Air Force Office of Special Investigations.

He has now described to The Sun Online what happened on the November 3 raid as he was left terrified along with his girlfriend Rachel.

Arnu said the raid “happened without any warning” and “the doors were broken open” before him and Rachel “were detained and treated in the most disrespectful way”.

"I was asleep in bed. If there was a warning I did not hear it. I woke up from the sound of the door being broken down," he told The Sun Online.

"When I went to investigate I saw several people in full body armour in my house behind a riot shield with at least one gun pointed at me.

“My girlfriend was led out into the street barefoot and only in her underwear in full view of our neighbours."

“I was led outside, handcuffed and only in t-shirt and sweats in sub-freezing temperatures.

“Each home was searched by 15-20 agents in full riot gear, causing further damage in both homes besides the broken front doors.

“I was very surprised how forceful the search warrant was executed and how rough we, both unarmed senior citizens, were treated.”

Arnu explained that: “Despite my repeated requests for an explanation, I was only told that the search was related to images posted on my Area 51 website.

“I believe the search, executed with completely unnecessary force by overzealous government agents, was meant as a message to silence the Area 51 research community.”

In a chilling warning he added: “The question now is – how far will they go?”

He revealed that the FBI and the Air Force seized a large amount of electronic equipment worth about $20,000 (£17,000), as well as personal records.

Images shared with the The Sun Online, show the damage to his door from when the FBI and Air Force forced their way in.

“All my laptops, phones, backup drives, camera gear and my drone were seized,” he said.

“With the equipment I lost all my medical records, financial and tax records, passwords, email and phone contacts, photos etc. 

“Even my phone was taken, leaving me in Rachel with two broken doors and no way to communicate or call for help.

“I have no choice but to take legal action to try and get my equipment back and to seek reimbursement for the damage.”

The FBI's Las Vegas office declined to comment.

What is Area 51

Area 51 is located in the southern portion of Nevada, just 83 miles north-northwest of Las Vegas

It is the common name of a highly classified at the United States Air Force facility within the Nevada Test and Training Range.

The patch of fenced-off land It is officially known as Homey Airport and measuring six by ten miles, is tucked between a US Air Force base and an abandoned nuclear testing ground.

It is near Rachel, a small town popular with tourists, on the so-called Extra Terrestrial Highway, Nevada route 375.

The airbase is commonly believed by many to be the home of the development and testing of experimental aircraft and weapons systems.

The US Air Force acquired the site in 1955.

However, the CIA never acknowledged the existence of the facility until June 2013, following a Freedom of Information Act request filed in 2005.

The base has never been declared a secret base, but all research and occurrences in Area 51 are Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information.

Conspiracy theorists believe the facility is used to store, examine and reverse engineer crashed alien spacecraft, including material supposedly recovered from the 1950s Roswell incident.

The base has been a testing ground for a host of top-secret aircraft, including the U-2 in the 1950s and later the B-2 stealth bomber.

German-born Arnu moved to the United States in 1995 after studying electrical engineering and worked in Silicon Valley.

His lifelong interest in aviation led him to begin researching Area 51 and named his website after the radio call sign of the restricted airspace.

Over the years he has appeared in numerous Area 51 documentaries and TV shows as well as contributed material and expertise to dozens of productions.

He insists all the material on the website was legally obtained and published but has also removed material.

“I am not sharing anything on my web site that cannot be found on dozens of other web sites and news outlet publications,” he said.

But efforts to get more information about why his home was raided have proved fruitless.

He says there are 40 pages missing from the search warrant he received and the case records are sealed so can't look up the reason for the search.. 

“I left several messages with the FBI agent in charge but he has not returned any of my calls,” he said.

A defiant Arnu said he won’t be cowed by what he says is his heavy handed treatment.

“Considering how this went down I have no intention of removing any more material unless ordered to do so by a federal judge.”
