A Brazilian influencer who died after twice going into cardiac arrest is said to have consumed drugs and liquor at a party, according to police witness reports.

Larissa Borgues, 33, spent eight days in a coma following her first cardiac arrest on August 20 and suffered a fatal one early Monday at a hospital in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul, where she was visiting.

Rio Grande do Sul Civil Police deputy Gustavo Barcellos said they are still awaiting the results of an autopsy, which takes up to 30 days to be completed, in order to determine the cause of death.

‘There is a report of a possible ingestion of narcotic substances, accumulated with alcoholic beverages,’ he told Brazilian news outlet G1 on Tuesday. ‘We will try to search through laboratory tests for substances that she possibly consumed.’

Barcellos said that authorities have interviewed Borgues’ boyfriend, who accompanied her to the party. 

Witnesses told police that Borgues drank alcoholic beverages and took drugs at the party in the mountain resort town of Gramado. The couple returned to a hotel, where she went into cardiac arrest.

Civil Police investigators are awaiting to review videos from their cellphone and were also looking into surveillance cameras where the party was held to see if they can get a better understanding of what took place.

A family member who has access to Borgues’ Instagram account revealed Wednesday that she was laid to rest in the morning.

Borgues had a strong following on social media, where she promoted the importance of routinely exercising and suggested low-calorie meals. She frequently shared her travel experience.

She appeared in campaigns for products for different brands and promoted parties in the Federal District and Goiânia, a city in the central state of Goiás.

‘The pain of losing someone so young, just 33 years old, and so kind, is overwhelming,’ family said in a social media post. ‘Our hearts are broken, and the longing we will feel is indescribable.’
