JSO eco zealots are 'kettled' by Just Stop P***ing Everyone Off

Eco zealots are ‘kettled’ by Just Stop P***ing Everyone Off counter protesters who form human chain around them in bid to foil slow march

Just Stop Oil’s bizarre slow-march story took an unexpected twist this morning – as lookalike counter-protesters infiltrated their ranks and foiled one of their demonstrations.

Opposing activists  – known only as Just Stop P***ing Everyone Off – stopped them in London in a military-style operation.

The shadowy group camouflaged themselves in JSO’s traditional orange T-shirts to blend in with the do-gooders.

And as the climate change clowns began disrupting the traffic in Elephant and Castle, their new nemeses struck.

Creating a ring of human bodies, JSPEO circled them and kettled them out of the street and onto the pavement.

One of the JSO protesters told the JSPEO protesters she had family in the South of France

Bizarre exchange between the two groups ended when JSPEO said they could all leave

There, the bewildered eco-annoyances sat subdued and cross-legged on the ground before one used a megaphone.

The woman, who said she was called Thea, said from the concrete floor: ‘I was arrested for peacefully protesting on the road.

‘We know that disruption isn’t comfortable, but it’s necessary,’

Then gesturing to their new arch-rivals, she added: ‘We meet this circle of people around us and we do agree about the same things except we have that sense of urgency.’

As she continues to say she is from Canada and has ‘family in the south of France too’ JSPEO interrupt to say they are allowed to leave.

A spokeperson adds: ‘We are not holding you hostage.’

It came after an angry bystander spoke for much of Britain this morning as he berated Just Stop Oil eco-zealots clogging another of the country’s roads.

The retiree shamed the protesters as they did one of their now-familiar slow marches through Stratford Broadway, east London, just after 9am.

Two police officers were visible on the street and were seen telling the man they would be moving them on shortly.

But the legal order to get them out of the road – which was issued at 9.17am – did not come quick enough for them to escape them being given a piece of his mind.

The man yelled: ‘They’ve never done a day’s work in their life.

‘I haven’t worked all my life for the likes of you. Stupid idiots. What planet do you live on? Hope you rot in jail.’

The JSO supporters were only on the road for a matter of minutes before they were sent off

This was the first of five protests so far by the oil-hating outfit.

They struck in Westminster moments later to spray paint on a building and then again in Gaunt Street, Southwark.

Holland Road in Kensington also saw 12 protesters moved on by 9.23am while Old Kent Road had the same treatment just after 9.30am.

The group targeted five locations in the capital yesterday, resulting in pedestrians pushing them into the road and Sky Sports’ Chris Kamara being delayed for a TV appearance.

The day began with activists targeting the Department for Energy Security for Net Zero with with orange fire extinguishers resulting in their arrests.

So far, the Metropolitan Police have been called to other events in the capital at Marylebone Road, Parliament Square, Westminster Bridge, Victoria Street and on Vauxhall Bridge Road – and in all cases police issued section 12 notices to demonstrators.

Among those caught in the traffic chaos was commentator Kamara who tweeted: ‘Been stuck in traffic on the Vauxhall Bridge in London with the Oil Protesters doing their stuff. Missed my 9am call time.’

Elsewhere, a driver at the end of his tether was recorded yesterday pushing two activists into each other on a busy London road after the group deployed another slow march.

And two activists from the eco-zealot group were also seen dousing the government building in Whitehall with the orange spray as a protest against the Government’s use of fossil fuels.

After their messy protest, the two demonstrators sat down in front of the paint splattered glass building and remained motionless.

The pundit tweeted that due to the disruption he had missed his TV call time

Pictures then showed police officers swooping in to detain the two activists, who have been identified as Matthew Cunningham, 25, and Imogen May, 24.

In a short statement, the group said: ‘This morning, two supporters of Just Stop Oil have painted the department responsible for issuing over 100 new oil and gas licences in the UK.’

Energy Security Secretary Grant Shapps then accused Just Stop Oil protesters of ‘illegal criminal damage’.

Mr Shapps, responding to questions about the paint protest on LBC during a round of broadcast interviews, said: ‘It is illegal criminal damage and I will leave that to the authorities.’

Mr Cunningham, in another video posted by JSO, said: ‘This department oversees our energy policy and we know from last month that the Climate Change Committee, the Government’s independent watchdog for climate change policy, denounced the Government’s efforts against climate change.

‘They said that they were far less sure that the Government would achieve net zero than it had been just one year ago.

‘And they specifically said that the Government needs to stop issuing new oil and gas licences because it is not compatible with a net zero future.’

Ms May said the department is ‘failing on their only purpose’ and that the climate situation is ‘getting really dangerous’.

Conservative Party chairman Greg Hands, posting a picture on social media of Westminster Bridge being blocked by JSO supporters, called the demonstration ‘unacceptable’.
