The man found dead in a women’s bathroom wall in Canada died accidentally when he crawled into a vent behind a toilet — and became trapped for two days, police said.
The corpse was discovered Monday by a maintenance worker who was called in to fix a broken toilet in the women’s bathroom at Core Shopping Centre in Calgary.
The unidentified man, who was in his 20s, is believed to have crawled on top of a 7-foot pony wall used to hide utilities Friday night, Calgary police said in a statement. He was alone at the time.
The wall, located directly behind the toilets in the fourth-floor bathroom, is not connected to the ceiling and has no other points of access, police said.
“Based on the evidence at the scene, officers believe the victim then climbed inside the pony wall through the vent opening where he became stuck and later died,” police said.
It’s still unknown why the man climbed into the wall, officials said.
Police have ruled out foul play.
