POLICE set up an active barrier situation at a hotel in Washington DC Thursday evening.

Officials detained a suspect at the Oriental Mandarin hotel on Maryland Ave and there is no active threat at this time, police told the Sun.


The Oriental Mandarin hotel is only 1.3 miles from the Capitol building.

Fire officials called for police assistance after the incident began, WUSA9 reported.

There have been reports of a fire and a possible shooting, however police have not confirmed this.

Police did confirm to WUSA9 that a person is in crisis.

The public information office told the Sun that one person was detained on the scene.
