Rail commuters have been told to find other means of transport after a communications outage forced Metro Trains to halt suburban services across Melbourne.

The Metro Trains website says that a communications outage forced the stoppage early Wednesday morning. There is no estimated time for when services might resume.

“All train services on the Metropolitan network are currently stopped due to a communications outage,” the site says.

“We are working to rectify this issue as soon as possible. Passengers should reconsider travel on the Metropolitan network and consider alternate travel arrangements until further notice.”
