Mike Tindall’s surprising career switch-up from royal duties to star in pizza ad

Mike Tindall has made a surprising career switch-up from royal duties by appearing in a bizarre pizza advert.

On the cusp of going into the I'm A Celeb jungle, the former rugby star continued on a separate path from royal life by playing on his connections in a Domino's pizza ad.

The 44-year-old, who is married to to King Charles' niece Zara, appeared with former teammate James Haskell in the clip where he joked: "I have friends in high places."

World Cup winner Tindall, is seen arriving at Haskell's house in a helicopter carrying a stack of pizza boxes.

Haskell, 37, greets the father-of-three, saying: “Tinds! What a boy.

"And in a heli too! Someone must have owed you a really big favour!”

Tindall replies: “Standard! You know me, mate! Friends in high places. I always deliver for you.”

In an apparent humorous reference to the three medals Mr Tindall was seen wearing at Queen Elizabeth II's funeral last month, Haskell turns to the camera and says: “Calm down! What do you need, a medal?”

Tindall responds: "Don't be like that."

One of the medals that the former rugby star wore at the funeral was awarded in 2007 in recognition of his contribution to the sport, the other two were given to mark the Queen's Diamond and Platinum Jubilees in 2012 and 2022.

The pizza ad is believed to be a tie-in with the podcast Tindall and Haskell host, The Good, The Bad & The Rugby as well as the Autumn Nations Series.

During a recent episode of his podcast, Mr Tindall admitted he "hates" wearing medals, arguing he had not done anything to achieve them "apart from being in the family".

Tindall, who is not a working royal, recently raised eyebrows by stating he would be on I’m A Celebrity this year.

He is expected to pocket £235,000 for his rumoured appearance, which is due to be filmed in the Australian jungle.
