Military plane crash lands in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii ocean with 9 passengers on board as craft seen floating in water | The Sun

A NAVY aircraft has landed in the waters of Kaneohe Bay after overshooting the runway.

The accident happened on Monday at 2pm at the Marine Corps Base Hawaii.


The plane was a Boeing P8 Poseidon, which was a military surveillance and patrol aircraft, U.S. Marine Corps spokesperson Gunnery Sgt. Orlando Perez told the Associated Press.

At the time of the accident, the aircraft was seen floating in the water with multiple people inside.

The aircraft had nine people on board at the time, with no fatal injuries, sources told CBS affiliate KGMB.

Gunnery Sergeant Orlando Perez, a spokesperson for MCBH, told Mirror, that it had been landing when it overshot the runway and landed instead in the bay.

The base was located about 10 miles from Hawaii's capital, Honolulu.
