  • He was jailed for the attack in January this year at her home in Middlesborough

A domestic abuse survivor has shared CCTV of the horrific moment her ex-husband locked her in a shed before he punched, headbutted and choked her then dragged her around the house.

Abuser Anthony Young, 47, was this week jailed for 27 months after a trial at Teesside Crown Court and handed a restraining order preventing him from contacting his ex-wife Victoria Jackson.

The brave mother-of-two, 42, spoke out about her abuse at the hands of her ’emotionless’ ex, whose deplorable attack on January 3, 2022 at her home in Park End, Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire left her bruised from head to toe.

The drunken father-of-four showed up her home and lock her in the shed.

After Ms Jackson, a student nurse at Teesside University, made an escape bid through the window, he appeared with a knife and marched her back into the shed.

After telling her ‘you’re going to die tonight’, the twisted man used a kitchen knife to ‘stroke her arms and leg, threatening to chop her up, TeessideLive reports.

Ms Jackson told the news website that she started her relationship with Young in 2012 after being long-term friends with his sister. The pair married six years later.

Young acted violently just a eight months into their relationship when ‘he first hit me’, Ms Jackson, a mother to two girls aged five and nine, said.

She said she did not think it would happen again but the abuse became regular.

Ms Jackson said she was forced to be nice to get away from him, and while she asked him to take him to hospital, she didn’t report the attack as she did not want social services to get involved, as he threatened to have her children taken away.

But when her sister visited the next day, she was shocked by her injuries and encouraged to report the attack to the police. Young was then arrested, and the relationship ended.

Ms Jackson said her ex was a narcissist and emotionless who never accepted blame and was ‘always right’. She said he called her to apologise several months after the attack, but still insisted it was ‘her fault’.

She told TeessideLive that she is ‘relieved’ that her abusive ex-husband is now behind bars and is trying to ‘move on’.

Young’s lawyer Calum McNicholas, told the court in mitigation that his attack was ‘out of character’ and that he had had not previous convictions.

But Judge Jo Kidd asked if previous domestic violence incidents had occurred where the victim was hesitant or reluctant to contact the police.

Young pleaded guilty to false imprisonment and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. In October he pleaded guilty to affray for using a knife and threatening a woman.

The court heard that Young was very drunk when he launched his attack on Ms Jackson, where he repeatedly punched her in the face and strangled her.

He attacked her in several upstairs rooms before he dragged her downstairs to lock her in the shed where she thought she would die.

The student nurse is now in her final year of her nursing degree after taking a year out due to the stress of the court trial.

She spoke out in order to warn women who could find themselves in similar situations, especially if they believe they are to blame for the abuse.

Ms Jackson revealed that she is now has a new boyfriend who is a ‘gentleman’ and ‘treats her right’.
