A MUM has told of her horror after her son flew down the stairs of a double-decker bus "like a crash test dummy" after a driver sharply pulled out.

Danielle Ewart, 30, says the bus driver told her to "control your kid" when Callum, four, took a nasty tumble.

The mum held back tears as her son cried hysterically on the 148 bus shortly after boarding at Hyde Park in London on Saturday evening.

Danielle told The Sun her son suffered tissue bruising in the fall – which she dubbed the "scariest thing I've ever seen in my life".

He also hurt his lip and was screaming hysterically for the rest of the journey.

The family – including Calum's 10-month-old sister – had spent the afternoon enjoying the sun in St James' Park before waiting at the bus stop to go home.

Danielle saw a 148 bus approaching the stop, but noticed there was a wheelchair in the buggie loading area so opted to wait for the next one.

She spotted another 148 approaching the stop, but it was stuck behind several other buses.

As she waited for the bus to approach the stop to let her on, Danielle noticed the doors were open several metres down the road.

She told The Sun: "I waved him down and signalled to see if he'd let me on the back doors because my buggie is quite bulky.

"It would just be easier and more convenient to get on at the back and go straight for the buggie compartment.

"He was happy to do that and he let me on.

"I had just got my backside through the door and he shut it behind me.

"My son came on with me and went up the stairs.

"I was trying to get my pushchair into the buggie area and he pulled away straight away – without me tapping my card to pay.

"Without me securing my buggie, without my son getting a seat. Nothing.

"He pulled away and my son was at the top of the stairs ready to turn around.

"My son then… all I can describe it as is looking like a crash test dummy – flying from the top step down to the bottom.

"I screamed, I let go of my buggie.

"My son was on his back, his legs were behind his head. He was scrunched up like a ball at the bottom of the stairs.

"He's screaming, he's crying. He didn't know what happened.

"The bus driver hadn't even got out of his compartment, he was sat there. He was waiting for traffic to clear so he could pull out more.

"I'm screaming 'you've just pulled out and my son has fallen from the top of the stairs'.

"His response was: 'You should control your kid'."

Danielle claims the driver didn't ask her whether Callum was ok or whether he needed medical help.

Instead, he drove away, the mum says.

Danielle calmed her tot down and put him to bed that night.

She tried to keep him awake for fear he suffered a nasty concussion in the fall.

The next day, when painkillers didn't help his back ache, Danielle took Callum to A&E.

Medics said the boy suffered tissue bruising and urged her to keep an eye on him.

"It was just disgusting. I keep replaying it back in my head. He's four years old. He was just getting a seat like everyone else," Danielle added.

"I'm really angry and so upset. I keep thinking to myself – that scenario could have been a while different story.

"For me it's just the scariest thing I've ever seen in my life. I've never witnessed my child hurt himself to that extent.

"At the time I was absolutely irate. There was no care, no compassion."

A Transport for London spokesperson said: "This must have been deeply distressing and we hope Callum makes a speedy recovery.

"Bus drivers are trained to look out for those who may need some extra time before departing, but clearly something has gone wrong here.

"We are speaking to the operator, RATP, who are investigating what happened, and will be back in touch with the family."
