A pensioner neighbour from hell has been slapped with a restraining order after a string of vile verbal attacks on the disabled woman next door.

Anthony Doughty, 67, was reported to police by Clare Green after a sick outburst in which he called her a “poor old cripple”, and she told cops it had been part of an ongoing campaign of hate against her. The nasty slur came after Clare had had a disabled parking bay marked out in front of her home, near Birkenhead, Wirral, reports Mail Online.

It was just the latest verbal attack on Clare by Doughty, who had managed to record him calling her a “horrible f***ing woman”, a “dirty fat c**t” and a “horrible old bag”.

Doughty admitted harassment and threatening behaviour at Wirral Magistrates’ Court. He was fined £288 for the crime, with a further £50 added because of the nature of his comments.

He was told to pay Clare £200 in compensation and a further £235 in costs and a victim surcharge. The restraining order means he can’t contact Clare for 12 months.

Doughty, a part-time factory worker, was caught making the nasty comments in June, although he’d been showing animosity towards Clare for some time for several years, the court was told.

In a statement, Clare said: “He clearly knows what he is doing and he doesn't seem phased and it has turned into a routine for him.

“I was really offended by the term ‘cripple’ and also referring to me as a 'horrible old bag' and a 'dirty fat c**t’.”

The court head that Doughty’s comments were made when he returned drunk from the pub.

Angela Blackmore, prosecuting, said: “There have been issues in the past few years and more recently the behaviour has escalated.

“It seems to have stemmed from issues when Ms Green minded a couple of dogs. They were barking quite loudly and it does feel like the defendant has held a grudge against her.”

Ms Blackmore outlined a string of incidents that happened in June, including Doughty saying: “Horrible f***ing woman, what a horrible f***ing woman.” A few days later, he said: “You are f***ing horrible you, you horrible old bag.”

On another occasion, Doughty stuck two fingers up at Clare and spat towards her, but it all just dribbled down his chin. And on June 21, he shouted: “Horrible fat c**t” before calling her a “dirty big fat c**t” the following day.

In mitigation, Nick Woosey said: “It is a neighbour dispute which has reached the point where the final straw has broken the camel’s back for both parties.

“He accepts what he has done, and he is sorry it has happened. He is a gentleman supported by his wife and he has lived there for 47 years and these proceedings have been anxiety-inducing for them both. He is someone I would not expect to see before the courts normally.”

Sentencing Doughty, JP Geoffrey Green told him: “I am quite sure you do not need me to tell you that this was a nasty incident, borne out of frustration that has culminated over months, years now. These things are not easy to deal with and not always easy to understand.

“We just hope that this can be allowed to drift into the past and that you, your wife and Ms Green can get on with your lives.”
