A teenage boy is in a critical condition after the car he was travelling in crashed on Sydney’s northern beaches on Saturday morning.

The ute was filled with six teenage boys, aged between 16 and 17, when it left the road and hit a tree on Cabbage Tree Road, Bayview, about 12.20am.

“A crime scene has been established and will be forensically examined by specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit,” NSW Police said. “Inquiries are ongoing.”

Police are expected to provide an update later on Saturday.
