Our daughter, 3, was sent home from nursery after teachers ruled her summer dress was ‘inappropriate’ – we're outraged | The Sun

THE fuming parents of a three-year-old girl blasted a nursery after the tot was sent home as her dress was deemed "inappropriate" by teachers.

Little Lola Stonehouse's mum and dad had dropped the youngster at preschool in an ankle-length dress as temperatures hit 30C.

But the youngster's outraged parents were told by staff she should wear a top with the dress as the straps on her dress were less than two inches wide.

The preschool – Little Years Nursery School in Winnipeg, Canada – sent Lola home as they claimed her outfit went against their internal policy.

Lola's mum Sadie hit out at the nursery, saying it put her and husband Jamie in a difficult position.

She told CTV News: "She's not going to understand.

“She's going to think that maybe she did something wrong, when she very much didn't.

"So now she's going to be questioning her own body. And that's such a young age to even be concerned about something like that.

“I don't think any girl should have to worry about how much shoulder she's exposing when she dresses to go to school or anywhere else.”

Dad Jamie added: "It’s a child. Innocence is innocence and we’re the only ones who can give it to them."

The nursery, however, defended the action taken, saying they followed the same dress code enforced by a local school.

The code banned thin straps and low-cut shirts for girls, and tops with low-cut sleeves for boys.

But following the incident with Lola in May 2018, the preschool said it would review its dress code, reports CBC.

It comes after a dad told how his daughter was sent home from school sobbing after her teacher claimed her outfit looked like lingerie.

Chris Wilson said schoolgirl Karis was left terrified when choosing what to wear each morning after the male staff member complained.

She was reprimanded after being informed that her clothes had made the teacher at the secondary school in British Columbia, Canada, feel "awkward".

Another female teacher had also commented that Karis' attire reminded her of a "lingerie outfit."

The teenager was wearing a white long-sleeved top and a knee-length black dress with a lace trim.
