But Pilates can be capable of much more – working wonders for sex lives, a study has suggested.
Researchers studied women aged 20 to 50 who were experiencing sexual dysfunction, which is defined as any ongoing sexual problem associated with personal distress, including loss of libido.

The women were enrolled on a 12-week programme of Pilates, attending 60-minute classes twice a week.
They were assessed at the start and end of the programme with detailed questions covering arousal, lubrication, orgasm and pain.
The study, published in the journal Revista Internacional de Andrologia, found that women’s sexual function scores improved by 143 per cent on average after the programme.
Lead author, Professor Ahmet Gokce from Sakarya University in Turkey, said Pilates may improve sexual function due to its physiological and psychological benefits.
