A POLICE officer is being questioned after a crash involving a cop car left a woman dead.
Heather Smedley, 53, died after an unmarked police car crashed into her Peugeot 108 on December 23 in Oldham, Greater Manchester.
The police car was chasing an Audi A3 – which officers believed to be stolen – when it fatally crashed into Heather.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) said an unnamed police officer is being investigated for the potential offence of causing death by dangerous driving.
They are also being investigated for potential careless driving and gross misconduct in relation to the manner of their driving.
Heather was treated by paramedics but was pronounced dead at the scene around 30 minutes after the crash.
