Police launch probe after girl, eight, claimed a man wearing gloves ‘grabbed her foot’ under a toilet door in Morrisons and asked for her name and address

Police have launched an investigation after a little girl told her mother she was touched by a man who put his hand under a toilet cubicle in a supermarket.
The eight-year-old told her mum a man, who wore blue and black gloves, had touched her foot and asked her personal questions, including her name and where she lived, from the next door cubicle of the ladies toilets in Morrisons.
Police were made aware of the ‘suspicious incident’ took place just after 3pm on Wednesday at the supermarket in Cheadle.
The youngster claimed the man reached under the dividing wall and got hold of her foot.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the ‘suspicious incident’ to come forward.
Sharing details of the ordeal on social media, the child’s mother said: ‘We were in Morrisons in Cheadle and my young daughter went to the bathroom.
‘There was a man in the next cubicle that started talking to my daughter asking her name, where she lives, where she goes to school.
‘He then put his hand under the divider and touched her foot. My daughter is eight. Luckily she ran out and found her older sister.
‘This has been reported to the store manager and also to the police. Please keep your kids safe as this could have so easily got more serious.’
Staffordshire Police confirmed an investigation had been launched.
A spokesman said: ‘We were called at 4.15pm yesterday (Wednesday 5 October) to reports of a suspicious incident at Morrisons in Cheadle.
‘The incident happened at approximately 3.15pm when a man went into the ladies toilet and tried to engage with a child. Inquiries are ongoing.’
A Morrisons spokesman said: ‘We are aware of the incident and are assisting the police with their inquiries’.
