Vision of a man and woman buying fast food at a McDonald’s drive-through could be the key in solving the investigation into the killing of a western Sydney man, police believe.
Granville man Shady Kanj, 22, was shot in Guildford near Parramatta on August 6 last year and died at the scene. No one has been arrested over his death.
Shady Kanj was killed in the shooting.
Shortly after, the state’s top homicide squad detective Superintendent Danny Doherty said he could not discount the shooting was the result of gang violence involving the Alameddine organised crime network.
Continuing to search for answers, detectives this week canvassed several homes on Miller Street in South Granville, which has been identified as a place of interest.
On Thursday, detectives also released CCTV vision of a man and a woman driving a white Audi Q5 through a McDonald’s at Lidcombe. The vision was taken before the shooting on August 6.
Police do not believe the man and woman were involved in the shooting, but may have information that could help with the investigation.

Doherty urged the pair to come forward.
“That vehicle is captured at the fast-food restaurant in Lidcombe before the shooting, then again on the corner of Mona Street and Clyde Street at South Granville later that night,” he said.
“We suspect they have information of value to our investigation. Given the vehicle travelled in the vicinity of the murder around the time of the shooting, it is possible the occupants saw something suspicious that may further our inquiries.”
Earlier this year, police seized a white Lexus hatchback as part of the investigation. Police believe the car was wrapped in black nylon film to disguise its true colour after the shooting.
“It is believed that those involved in Shady’s murder visited Miller Street before and after the incident and may have even disposed of evidence in the vicinity,” Doherty said.
Police are also investigating an incident that occurred earlier on the day of the shooting which detectives believe is linked to Kanj’s death.
Just after 11pm, emergency services were called to Chester Hill following reports a man had been shot. A 25-year-old man was injured but has since recovered.
