Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has revealed that his forces have liberated two towns in southern Ukraine and are continuing to make progress in retaking Kherson. Speaking on Sunday night, Mr Zelensky said his troops have taken Arkhangelske and Myrolyubivka as Kyiv continues with its counter-offensive in the south and east of the ex-Soviet state.
However, Ukrainian forces also cleared Lyman and are advancing to Kreminna and Svatove.
Kyiv’s advance means that Zelensky’s forces could liberate Kherson and the northern part of the Donbas in a matter of days, according to the Telegraph.
In a video clip uploaded to his Telegram channel, Mr Zelensky said: “As of 12.30pm, Lyman is fully cleared.”
Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to President Zelensky, also claimed that the Russian death toll has now hit 60,000.

He said: “Everything is according to plan, that is why [the Russian mortality] counter turned to new page.
“Sixty-thousand Russian looters have already died on Ukrainian ground.
“Three times as [many] injured.
“Time to ask the army of conscripted office workers: where did the second army of professionals go?”
However, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree last week which paved the way for occupies regions of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia to be formally annexed into Kremlin territory.
The news comes after the UK’s Ministry of Defence claimed Russia’s retreat in the Donetsk Oblast town of Lyman could put even greater pressure on Moscow’s military.
In an intelligence update, the MoD said: “Russia’s withdrawal from Lyman also represents a significant political setback given that it is located within Donetsk Oblast, a region Russia supposedly aimed to ‘liberate’ and has attempted to illegally annex.
“The withdrawal has led to a further wave of public criticism of Russia’s military leadership by senior officials.

“Further losses of territory in illegally occupied territories will almost certainly lead to an intensification of this public criticism and increase the pressure on senior commanders.”
Defence Secretary Ben Wallace also told Conservative Party conference in Birmingham that it is “highly unlikely” that Vladimir Putin would use nuclear weapons during his invasion of Ukraine.
