As web users competed for the most outlandish meme, one punter was unable to resist a dig at the 24-year-old footballer with a reputation for goal scoring – and claiming.
Twitter user Mark Windham posted a picture of the Duchess of Cambridge holding her newborn outside the Lindo Wing after she gave birth to a boy on Monday.
Instead of Prince William waving to the crowd, Harry Kane is superimposed on the Duke with the cheeky caption: "Harry Kane is claiming it #royalbaby".
The amused tweeter was referencing Kane being credited for scoring Tottenham's second goal against Stoke earlier this month – a goal initially attributed to Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen.
The 24-year-old is on a quest to become the Premier League's top scorer – but probably didn't reckon on meme domination too.
Other images showed off users' Photoshop skills to the best of their ability with one mocking up a still from The Lion King, with the faces of the royals superimposed on the animated characters.
Prince Charles holds his new grandson aloft as Kate Middleton and Prince William look on adoringly – while Prince Harry appears to be skulking about lower down.
Bookies Paddy Power also spotted a slip-up by Sky News on their breaking news ticker.
While showing images of news anchor Kay Burley outside the Lindo Wing, it was flashing up the vitally important "breaking news" of “Wes Hoolahan to leave Norwich”.
The ever-wise Paddington Bear was also quick to dish out some sage advice, writing on Twitter: “Aunt Lucy says that a new arrival into any family always causes excitement and challenges.”
