Russian TV boss calls for Ukrainian kids to be ‘drowned’ and ‘burned alive’

A Russian state TV boss has been suspended after calling for Ukrainian children to be drowned in a river or burned alive.

Anton Krasovsky, director of broadcasting at Russia Today (RT), also made horrifying comments about rape in a televised discussion with writer Sergei Lukayanenko.

Discussing claims that Russian soldiers have been given Viagra packs so they can rape Ukrainians, he said: "For them to rape Ukrainian grannies. God, those grannies would spend their burial savings to get raped by Russian soldiers."

As Lukayanenko spoke about conversations with children in Ukraine, Krasovsky interjected and said: "They should have been drowned in the Tysyna [river] right there, where the ducklings swim.

"Just drown those children, drown them, right there in the Tysyna.

"Whoever says that Moskals [a slur for Russians] occupied them, you throw them in the river with a strong undercurrent.

"Over there, every piece of s*** little house, there are masses of awful, monstrous little houses, they s*** all over the Carpathian Mountains.

"[The] Carpathian Mountains are disgusting… Shove them right into those huts and burn them up."

Within hours of the clip going viral on Twitter, RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan announced that she had suspended Krasovsky.

She said: "Anton Krasovsky's statement is wild and disgusting.

"Perhaps Anton will explain what kind of temporary insanity caused it and how it came from his mouth. It is hard to believe that Krasovsky sincerely believed that children should be drowned.

"For now, I'm stopping our collaboration.

"For the children of Ukraine, as well as the children of Donbas, and all other children, I wish that all this ends as soon as possible, and they can live and study in peace again – in the language they consider native."

Ukrainian officials have since accused Krasovsky of inciting genocide and called for RT to be banned worldwide.

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said on Twitter: "Governments which still have not banned RT must watch this excerpt.

"This is what you side with if you allow RT to operate in your countries. Aggressive genocide incitement (we will put this person on trial for it), which has nothing to do with freedom of speech. Ban RT worldwide!"
