Sex attacker who raped woman in an alleyway sobs' in police interview

Moment sex attacker, 25, who raped a woman in an alleyway sobs that he ‘would cry if I step on an ant’ – before police find sick videos of women on his phone

  • His interview was shown on Channel 4’s ’24 Hours in Police Custody’ on Sunday

This is the moment a sexual predator who filmed a woman and raped her in an alleyway tells police that he ‘would cry if I step on an ant’ when confronted about the crime.

Loui Cadman was caught on CCTV last year following the victim when she left a bar.

The 25-year-old filmed a three-minute video of her urinating in the alley without her knowing in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire.

In the recording, he made comments about her body before orally raping her.

A police interview shown on Channel 4’s ’24 Hours in Police Custody’ on Sunday showed Cadman in tears as he denied attacking her.

He said ‘I cry when I stand on an ant or a fly’ before later admitting filming her, saying ‘It’s disgusting and I don’t know why I’ve done it’.

Cadman is serving nine years in jail after being found guilty of rape, voyeurism, possession of indecent images and possession of cannabis.

A judge described his behaviour as ‘predatory’ and branded him a ‘danger to women’.

Cadman admitted to Detective Shona Birkby that he filmed the woman without her knowledge

In the police interview aired on the show, Cadman told Detective Shona Birkby: ‘I cry when I stand on an ant or a fly. I couldn’t hurt someone like that.’

Admitting that he filmed the victim without her consent, he said: ‘I really hate myself and I’m sorry. It’s disgusting I don’t know why I’ve done it. I’ve let down my son and my family.’

Cadman’s phone was examined and police found several more videos of other young women without their knowledge.

Detective Birkby also found an intimate video of a couple who weren’t aware of the recording taking place.

The TV programme told how Cadman started off secretly filming women without their consent before turning to rape.

Det Chief Insp Michelle Lack, from Bedfordshire Police’s Public Protection Unit, said: ‘This very clearly shows how behaviour can escalate as the perpetrator went from filming people without their knowledge or consent to targeting, following and raping a woman when she was on her own and in a vulnerable position.

‘We have a relentless focus on male violence against women and girls, including in the night-time economy. Women deserve to be, and feel, safe when they are out at night in public places.

‘This episode highlights what we are doing to tackle male violence against women and girls, as well as giving an insight into the work our RASSO (Rape and Serious Sexual Offences) team does to support victims and work with them to bring perpetrators of sexual violence and abuse to justice.

‘We know that people may feel some behaviour which makes them feel unsafe or uncomfortable is not worth reporting to police – but we want to know about it.

‘These patterns can escalate into serious offences, and we want to take action to stop predatory behaviour as early as we can.’
